In Spain it can be tricky to get married officially and that is why many couples choose a blessing style wedding, with the official paperwork taking place at a registrar in their home countries. However, if you are both members of the Catholic church, a legal church wedding is indeed possible! Irene and Alban, coming from southern Ireland, were keen on having an official church wedding in Spain, so they contacted Marbella Bride, who helped to make that happen for them! A Church wedding in Spain while possible, really should not be embarked upon without a knowledgeable local wedding planner and most certainly, the arrangements will need to be done in Spanish, even if the ceremony is conducted in English! If you would like more information on marrying in a Church in Spain, contact our team who will advise you and help you through the process!
Irene and Alban chose the Fuengirola Church as their marriage venue and so we set to work contacting and meeting with the priest, advising the couple on the paperwork needed, plus arranging all the fine details. The wedding reception was held at Avanto Events, a really cool beach side venue, located in La Cala de Mijas, some 25 minutes away from the Church. With a 120 guests, we needed to arrange transport too and coordinate the proceedings at both venues. Irene and Alban chose a very traditional style wedding, with a sit down meal, ending with a fantastic party with our Marbella Bride Dj Samson, accompanied by the fantastic Demian Sax and Anya house violin, which went down a treat with the guests!

After the Church service was done, the new Mr and Mrs headed off with the photographer for some photos, while the rest of the guests borded the coaches destined for the reception venue Avanto. They enjoyed a cocktail hour, flowing with wine, beer, sangria and cava, followed by a seated menu of meat and fish. Our cake maker Alyson created a beautiful wedding cake and our team decorated the venue to look very stylish! Some photos of that we will post up when the photograher send us them. Mark Borrow our lead wedding planner coordinated / planned the wedding start to finish, he also made the table plan and we installed nice lighting around the wedding venue for magical ambience in the evening!
"Mark, Thank you so much for making the 21st September 2018 such an amazing day for Alban & I, far beyond our expectations. We first met Mark in June 2017 and from day 1 he went above and beyond the call of duty for us. Mark listened to us, got to know us and found the perfect reception venue for us that suited us down to the ground. Not only that, Mark worked tirelessly to ensure that we got married in the church of our dreams in Fuengirola. Mark was always free to take calls, txt messages and emails and more often than not, it was Mark that was pushing us to keep things on track. With his parter Lorraine, Mark runs a professional business, nothing but the best and never cutting corners. The suppliers Mark works with are like minded and i want to pay special thanks Shona Stevenson and her daughter Shelly Stevenson for the beautiful flowers at the church and reception. Despite their incredible personal loss, these talented women made sure our day would be beautifully decorated, go raibh mile agat for that. To Marks translator Luka, Dj Sam, the wonderful Sax & Violin duo and Laura Elen Singer beautiful church music - thank you all so much for playing pivotal roles on our day. And to our celebrant Fr.
