What makes Marbella the leading hotspot for couples planning a destination wedding in Spain?

Firstly the climate has a lot to do with it, Marbella has it's own micro-climate, leading to over 300 warm sunny days per year, meaning an outdoor wedding is considerably more feasible, from March through till late October, when other areas of Spain have already hit the winter chills. Next comes the amazing beaches, with an almost tropical air about them, backdropped by the Majestic mountains that lead into the equally stunning rural areas of Marbella. The fabulous dining opportunities of the abundant Marbella restaurants and bars, offering the widest range of gastronomy to suit every pallet. An excellent choice in hotels, from the most basic to the most luxurious, meaning somewhere comfortable to stay for all your guests and of course, the vibrant nightlife that is the essence of Marbella once the sun retreats. 

As a wedding destination, Marbella has a good choice of wedding venues too! There are specialist venues that you can simply hire for the wedding day, without accommodation, leaving your guests free to stay where they choose. Luxury beach clubs, with and without hotels attached to them and of course, Hotels with sun-kissed gardens and welcoming pools! Or maybe you could choose a villa wedding, where a holiday home for the immediate wedding party becomes the main venue for the wedding celebrations too. 

Marbella is the hotspot of the Costa del Sol and without doubt one of the most popular locations in Spain for hosting weddings and special events.

Marbella mixes the modern with the past and its Old town, the remnants of the original fishing town it once was, remains nestled in its centre, with winding narrow cobbled streets and the almost infamous Church of Orange Square, undoubtedly one of the most popular Spanish churches for Irish Catholic weddings.  Marbella has an air of quality throughout, no wonder then, that it is frequented by the rich and famous too, it's the must-visit region of the Malaga province! Marbella stretches a long way along the coast and includes the famous Puerto Banus, with its high-end restaurants and exclusive nightclubs. The port in which some of the worlds most expensive yachts can be found moored, lobster is the dish of the day, as well as vegan options, of course, and the biggest top-name designer shops are abundant, for those who can afford their wares. 

It's true, there are some parts of the Costa del Sol that could be considered a bit "tacky", but Marbella avoids this nicely and makes for an interesting, exciting, vibrant place to stay!

Clubbing/Nightlife is also fantastic in Marbella, but expect to go out late and to stay out late! You could also choose to do absolutely nothing, saving your energy for the wedding, or recharging your batteries on Marbella golden sand beaches, or laid out poolside at your hotel!

Where is Marbella? 

It's in the province of Malaga.

We understand that not everyone is a master of Geography, so while you may be interested in Marbella as a wedding destination, you may not know exactly where it is! Marbella is located in the province of Malaga, Spain, also known as the Costa del Sol. It's approx 45 minutes from Malaga airport to Marbella's main town. Geographically Marbella is very close to Africa and indeed, on a clear day, from certain viewpoints the Coast of Morocco can be seen. It's the proximity to Africa that gives the Costa del Sol it's amazing climate and brings the warm winds from the African continent to provide a sub-tropical feel.
